I currently experiencing the same side affect. Everytime I talk, my tongue gets bitten from the back of my teeth. I noticed the slurred speech also. I have been on Zoloft for about 2 weeks now, haven't yet noticed any benefits yet.
It does say that tightness of the tongue can be a severe reaction and to call your Dr. right away. Don't know about the swelling but do agree that it sounds like an allergic reaction and that you need to be seen in the ER asap!
i had this reaction to an opiate med. not only is the allergic reacton dangerous, but an enlarged tounge can obstruct your throat during sleep and cause obstructive sleep apnea. very dangerous! are you snoring? are u waking up feeling tired? obstructive sleep apnea can decrease the amount of oxygen you get at night. it affects every organ in your body. take care of this asap! good luck!
Swelling of the tongue is a serious reaction. As others have said go to Er or call your Dr. However, if you develop trouble breathing call 911 right away! This can be indicative of an anaphylactic reaction and can be fatal! nothing to mess around with!
Yes, you need to call the prescribing doctor's office and tell them what is happening immediately. You could be having an allergic reaction to the Zoloft. If the symptoms get any worse go to the emergency room. Do not ignore these symptoms and continue taking the Zoloft. Call the doctor and get instructions immediately. Tell the receptionist you think you are having an allergic reaction to Zoloft and need to know what to do.
Sincerely,
Laurie
