My doctor prescribed ketoprofen (200mg extended release) for inflammation in my knee. There is arthritis in my knee, and I had a medial meniscus repair a couple of months ago, but there is pretty constant swelling on the anterior part of my knee at the base of the thigh/top of the knee that was present prior to the meniscus tear. In spite of the surgery and having the fluid drained twice, I still have pain and swelling. In addition to RICE, can I take an additional pain reliever?
Can I take ibuprofen while taking ketoprofen?

Maureen; Whatever you do is only take one anti-inflammatory at a time.If you notice one works better than another stick with that one but even if you try the rub on kind you don't want to take the oral also. These also thin your blood So anyway use one or the other period. Hopefully; in time it well stop and go away.Have a great weekend.
I took 5 ibuprofen and 1 ketoprofen pills is that really bad
I would not mix two NSAIDS together. It would seriously mess up your stomach. Do you have a brace you can wear for your knee? That might help. I have had two meniscus surgeries and know what you are talking about.
Thanks, geeky. I do wear a sleeve on my knee. My PT is baffled as to why is swells in an area that is not where the meniscus is My doc just said that the accumulation of synovial fluid is part of the way my body heals, and to come get it drained when it swells. I could be there every other day! I know the pain is related to the swelling/.
One thing you could try to get is Voltaren Gel. It is an NSAID gel that you apply on to the skin and won't hurt your stomach.
