I hate to be the one to tell you this but that is a side effect that sounds like it may be Tardive Dyskonesia. TD is most of the time permanent. There is a drug called Cogentin that helps alot with these type of symptoms, I would ask the doctor about this drug if the symptoms continue to bother you. Once in awhile the symptoms will settle down once you have no more of the Risperidol (Risperidone) in you, usually about 2-3 weeks after you stop taking it completely. Sorry to tell you there may be some bad news but I would rather be honest than sugar coat it and have you get your hopes up, SORRY. Are you just getting this stuff in your legs and feeling weird or are there other symptoms you are going through? Some things may sound silly or stupid to you but may actually be a problem. I Hope this helps answer your question some. Good luck muscleman. Let me know how you do, Risperadol is a difficult drug so be careful please, the weaning your doing is usually the best way to go, you can't just drop it unfortunately.
so far I feel fine, been off the risperdal for 1 day now, no shaking in my arms or legs, it feels like I haven't slept for days but there are no major problems so far, I don't think I have TD, I haven't been rolling my tongue in my mouth or anything like that. I believe I am getting off the drug completely. I just want all this out of my system. But I am coming along.
update: totally off risperdione, no more shakes, feel a lot better, I have also lost weight. It feels good to be finally off of a drug I have been on for years.
I need some help. I've been on risperdal for about a year. Went on it as it helped my sister, and when I was going through anxiety I begged the doc to let me try it. Big mistake. I have short memory loss, sore legs, dizzy. I think some of these symptoms are from withdrawl. Initially I was taking the drug as needed. Then I read you can't do this and started taking it every night. I'm only taking 0.5 mg per day but I can't stop shaking if I miss a dose. Lately I have been biting 3/4 of 0.5mg one day, and taking full 0.5 the next. It's been very difficult to get off this as again I shake so much. Find it hard to go to work, or do anything. I'm truly not myself, and warn others about anti-psychotics. The things you feel sometime are horrible, like a nightmare.
Hi, what does it feel like.coming down please? My son has autism and i am slowly withdrawing, reduced by 0.3ml over 6 months as he is highly sensitive and he is suffering with debilitarting side effects but cant express himself due to his autism and the speech problems it has caused, can you tell me how it feels please? He shouts out in the night and swears, it is horrible to hear
