I also heard someone say that it can help to lose weight. Is that true?
I understand androgel can be applied to the shoulders or stomach. Is one area better than the other?

The reason for the shoulders is 1. It's covered by clothing which lowers the risk of exposure to others. 2. You want a place that will slowly release it as opposed to quickly, which would convert it to estrogen.
Androgel will not help you lose weight per say, but raising your testosterone will help in losing weight. Low T levels hinder weight loss, sleeping, and can cause heart issues.
It's best to apply to clean, dry, intact skin of shoulders and upper arms and/or abdomen (which I personally think is probably the best spot do to the fact that it gets more blood flow). As far as losing weight, that's a myth. It's a steroid and can actually cause weight gain in some cases (which is a rare side effect of AndroGel). I hope this helps! Happy Holidays!
I have been using Testim and applying to the shoulders, chest, neck and upper arms... in short, everything covered by a t-shirt or nightshirt, as directed.
I was going to suggest that the shoulders would be better than abdomen, if only because it might/could remain covered more easily, and be more easily reached by the patient. (Not that you couldn't reach the abdomen... )
Also, in the event of lovemaking, I would suspect it less likely to be rubbed or cross-communicated to a partner, if the gel had been applied to the shoulders than if it were on the abdomen. Common sense suggests that there might be a better chance of transferring it from an abdomen, due to the proximity to the genitals (but this might depend on your position, actions, technique, etc.)
Of course, the directions would recommend showering and washing with soap and water before egaging in any direct skin to skin contact!
Hope these thoughts have helped you. Do post again to tell us what you did.
