They told me the dye used might cause me to itch and gave me an antihistamine before the procedure. The itching started about 10 hours later. I didn't notice the small red blotches under my skin until now. The itching and blotches seem to be all over chest and back but I haven't noticed them on my legs (yet). Is this a serious reaction?
I had cardiac cath yesterday. Now itching with small red spots under skin on my chest and back?

You're having hives, which is a reaction to the dye. Take the antihistamine as prescribed - if the hives get worse, or if you notice any coughing, or wheezing, then you need to call 911. It could be that the antihistamine is enough for this reaction but just be on the alert for if it gets worse. I wouldnt worry too much as the hives didnt start for 10 hours if you were severely allergic to the dye you would have hsd a reaction much sooner Regards -
Thanks ElizaJane. I've never had hives before. Itchy situation for sure. I appreciate your quick answer.
