I got a terrible Infection while at my doctor’s office who I had for 15 years. He did something weird to me on an examination and started laughing. ( By the way, I found out later my “doctor “ never even went to med school). Anyway, Two hours later I was breaking out in rashes and within a week I was seeing small worms coming out of my feet and underarms and even in my nose. My neck had three giant bumps on the back of it. I can’t begin to describe the agony and pain. Apparently he went around to other doctors in my town and told them not to treat me because when I made appointments for help not one would see me. I did research and figured it to be Cutaneous myaisis. I kept specimens of what I pulled from my skin and even fecal specimens.
I went to several doctors of which I finally exhausted myself to an ER at a well know ‘Science of Medicine “ hospital and they put me in a psyche ward and a psychiatrist came in the room without even looking at the lesions and told me “You have Magellan’s disease”. I had to correct the psychiatrist over his ignorance and told him “ You mean Morgellan’s disease. I didn’t know worms were Spanish explorers “. I got up and left quickly and I was charged for the visit. So with nobody’s help and literally dying (that is how bad it was- I wish I could post photos). I started taking hot baths with Epsom salts I did take the Pinworm medicine with no results so I went to my feed store to get spray on Botfly medicine. There was a rancher in the store while I was there and he told me to get some Ivermectin. I got the inter muscular and shot the parameter of my sores. I had to have surgery twice to remove deep infestations on my leg, stomach and neck. The infection cleared up and my skin became like baby skin, better than before this nightmare. It has lightly randomly returned in very small areas and it has been over five years. So I do oral Ivermectin and inject the small sites. I am so grateful to run into that rancher. He saved my life. Needless to say I have almost zero trust in most doctors but have a few I keep for other issues and they are amazing doctors. I would like to add I read the book of Job in the Bible and found him to have the same problem. I want to thank God most for His help , comfort, and wisdom.
I buy fenbendazole and ivermectin horse paste 1.87% at tractor supply. They both work for a while but infection comes back so I have to take monthly. Hopefully I will find a doctor that can write me a real script. I have strongyloides, you sound like you may have this as well. Lots of same symptoms and very hard to get a positive diagnosis, let alone a doctor that will even look Into it because most think you must be crazy when you explain symptoms
I too have sores that won’t heal. They started a year ago. Just recently it’s gotten out I’d control. I’ve treatex myself with Reese’s pinworm medicine with no results. However I did pass some transparent like worms. When I pick the scabs off the sores n get every bit of the scab and surrounding tissue and worm like things out it will heal very quickly. I e been to the Er twice and a dermatologist and they all want to give me something for itching. Because they think I’m scratching these sores into existence. I’m not. I explain to them that these sores burn even when water runs on them. Until I pick the crap away then no more burn n heals. I’m so exhausted from washing my sheets n blankets every day and vacuuming five to ten times a day and bleaching my bathroom and my floors and my shower and the laundry room. I Lysol every thing. If I don’t do these things the larvae will attack me and bite me trying to get into my skin.
I’ve purchased a small microscope and looked at the things I’ve pulled out my skin and looked at my counters and they are transparent worm like organisms that have a blue or red vein like them through them. Also they will leave trails in my skin with dots that are hard. I just feel so defeated and helpless and honestly don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this.
I don't think it comes in injectable for humans. It comes in a pill. The name is Stromectal. You mean thru 5 docs no one treated you for parasites? Where do you live?
Personally I totally believe someone can go to 5 different infectious disease specialists and be not treated. I went to one for the first time this year, and the first question he asked (after being asked by the docs assistant to dress in a robe) was had I been out of the country. I was there because I KNEW I had tapeworm, I just had a flea infestation, cats ended up with it and I found a flea in my nose twice and ear once upon waking so it is not out of the question for me to have injested an infected flea. This "top doc" inf. dis. specialist told me I couldn't get tapeworm that way (? google it, mostly happens to kids playing with flea infested pets, but yes, it can happen and does). I showed him a pair of underwear with a tapeworm segment in it, and he told me it was just dust, then proceeded to tell me I had OCD.
He did give me a script for a fecal test, but waited 2 months to report back to me the results, meanwhile I have read that sometimes the fecal test will show up negative many times before a positive result.
He totally insulted me and undermined my trust in doctors (I know I shouldn't generalize, but google around a bit, many of these doctors will not believe you if you hadn't been out of the country and then tell you that you might have "delusional parasitosis" or something like that. That's why people try to treat themselves. kaismama, did your doctor order a fecal test first? If so did it turn positive the first time (rare). Or did he just trust you and treat you? Or did you even go to an infectious disease specialist.
SInce then, don't even ask, and I do NOT have "delusional parasitosis". My cats also got hookworm and I ended up with the cutaneous larva migrans. No question. Saw the entry points, and the worms, and fellt creepy crawlies. This happened because I was having a humidity problem in my condo and the larva, even coming out of the litter box, and carried by the cats paws up to the carpeting, lived in the carpet a bit because of the humidity (due to a plumbing pipe leak from a turned OFF humidifier that leaked into air exchanger in my central air). That's been resolved. So I had tapeworms, which luckily, resolved itself (twice, I think, it's not too difficult to tell when it exits the body!
So it's not crazy ... I am about to take ivermectine paste that is sold for horses! I can follow the dosing perfectly, don't worry, have done my research and am good with math and googling.
My point is that I believe 5 doctors in a row would not treat the person who posted. For that person (not on this page right now, don't have access to your name) ... order the ivermectin paste. I got mine from amazon. Will last you a LONG time if you have repeat episodes. (I'm not even going to go into why I need ivermectin now, I WILL sound delusional .. hey this happens when you adopt a stray cat even from a very reputable rescue organization, and the litterbox becomes messier than normal; took me awhile to realize I needed a mask and gloves, and needed to put the litter boxes away from the air vents so the very stinky poop doesn't circulate through the house. Prior to this, same house, I had two cats that lived until 18 and 19 without any health problems, so it is not me that is careless! (sorry to be defensive).
geesh there are other ways of getting tapeworm besides being out of the country.
Hi: Stromectol is available practically everywhere in the World except where I live in Canada. Do you happen to know if "Ivermectin horse paste" is safe for humans. I've read about 8-10 posts, in this and other forums, by individuals who had or were going to try it. Unfortunately, only one or two responded and they said they had positive results. I have not come across any negative comments in forums regarding human usage of "Ivermectin horse paste".
For comparison reasons I would have preferred to have found the necessary detailed information from my research. I have only been able to locate the Stromental monograph and nothing comparable for the different brands of horse paste with 1.87% Ivermectin.
I look forward to any comments you may have that would enlighten me regarding my question. Thank you!
Dear Debnrandy, someone else a few weeks back asked about the same symptoms and if you live or have visited any south American countries or Mexico, these symptoms maybe caused by an insect known as a BotFly. They worms you see are the larva, and if I am not mistaken, those have to be treated a few times. Look botfly up, you can start with Wikipedia.org and out it in the search bar. Usually it is seen in south American countries and also Mexico, but it also could be another type of insect, that has laid its eggs under your skin, and produce larva when they a maturing. It can be cured, if you have access to an infectious disease dr, they will be able to help with this. I found the info in Wikipedia quite useful in explaining how the person came in contact with the fly, the life cycle of the fly and how to treat it.
If you do NOT have an infectious disease dr, look for the closest medical college with a hospital attached to their program, they should be able to help you, even a veterinarian may be able to find a dr to treat you in your area, he won't be able to treat you himself, but may be able to find a dr who can who is close to you. If all else fails, call the closest ERs of the hospitals close to you, explain that you have a botfly infestation in your skin and ask if they have anyone who can treat it. It is treatable. Keeping you in my prayers. Please update us when you can. patti
