I completely understand the concern of having to go to a rehab facility for detoxification because everyday life seems to get in the way. I was taking about 20 10mg lortabs a day, and i realized that I needed to stop, but I could not miss any work. So yesterday I just had to go to work with the sweats, stomach cramps, and weakness. I didn't think I would b able to make it through the day, but with all the distractions around I found that my shift passed rather quickly without me agonizing over every symptom. I am on day two of sobriety and terrified that I will not be able to stay away from them. I try to make it a point to stay busy by reading these forums, going shopping with sober friends, taking walks around the block, and also allow myself permission to just be lazy if I really, really don't feel well, but through experience I've realized activity does tend to get your mind off of lortabs more than laying around.
WannabFree, I commend you on your effeots. I pray for your comfort and soberity. Be strong!!!
I'm just like u I take about 10 or more a day of lortab and when I'm out I have sweats , cold chills and the u know what's till I get more. And I figured out if I get up and just do things it takes my mind off of it some cause laying around makes me just think about it more. Plus this is gonna sound stupid but if I listen to old music like the 90s pop music which I grew up in the 80s and 90s it helps for some reason.lol

I too am I'm the same boat as you and others, would like to know how your making out with this currently. Also how do you deal with it and handle it, I would like to be completely off of my pain meds. But I also have the feeling of I can't make it through the day without them, my body, knees, hands and elbows hurt without them. Spending my last pennies to have them. hate the feeling of being tide to that never ending hassle of needing this medication. I don't want to do this anymore please help with some advice, (any advice from ppl out here please help)
For an addiction that has lasted as long as yours it would have to use a replacement and at least minor therapy (unless you have a very strong will). Jennybooms' suggestion is the best if you don't have the time or the money, but will require A LOT of willpower.
Normally, what I have seen with pain pill addicts is the need to feel numb, or the buzzing sensation from when pain pills cuts off certain sensations in your head. If this is true for you too, I would highly recommend talking to a doctor about this situation and trying to get them to find you a step program replacement medication.
Best of luck, and go with my prayers for you.
I broke my rib and was recently prescribed meds i knew what could happen but had to take them for the pain but now i worry about the dt's i dnt want rehab due to no time can i talk to my prescribing dr about this
Maybe you should try and taper yourself off of the medications, it might be too much to just stop cold turkey.
Have you thought of using suboxone or subutex, that are both opiate replacements. You only have to be in withdrawal for 24 hours to start taking it and you have to use a suboxone trained dr. It can be an expensive program, but you would be functional in a short time after starting with your first dose. I would recommend taking your start day off and I do highly recommend the addiction therapy. If you don't do the therapy, you take a dangerous shortcut that can end in relapse, the therapy teaches you how this got started and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Let me know if you would like to know anymore. Pattishan
thank you for the answer. i will definately check into that. im not taking alot like some people to do i only take about 5 a day but its an everyday thing and if i dont have them i dont feel right. im not happy if i dont have them. but i will look into that
Good luck bro. Im in the same boat and nobody understands or has time to care. U can do it. Just taper off slowly and start working out hard so u can replace the seretonin your body is missing. Ive been functionally retarded and jobless my whole life but now im gonna do whatever it takes to persevere and live a normal life
and to add to what i wrote before i have been taking pain pills everyday since i was 15. im 22 now.
Also I have been on pain pills since I was 17, I am 31 now.
