I have IBS and I have a problem just to leave the house. My doctor prescribed Lomotil - one before leaving the house. One didn't work so I have been using two first thing in the morning and one before leaving the house. It works. I have only been using it for a week. Am I in danger of being depend on it already?
How long to I have to take Lomotil before a danger of dependency?

You need not worry. In doses used for the treatment of diarrhea, whether acute or chronic, Lomotil (diphenoxylate) has not produced addiction. The general adult dose of Lomotil for treating diarrhea is 2 tablets four times daily.(significantly less than what you are taking) This dose has been proven safe to take for a period of time.
