I had my thyroid meds upped in September and then changed to synthroid. I was taking levothyroxine.
After that I broke out in hives ... I just did research and found out it is very possible that it's because of the synthroid. I stopped taking it yesterday. Has anyone else experienced this and how long does it take to get out of your system?
Hives and synthroid, how long for synthroid to leave my system?

Synthroid has a half-life of roughly 7 days. This is the time it takes the body to reduce plasma levels by half. This means tit will take about 4 to 5 weeks before the concentration is too low to have any effect.
Thanks... what about the hives when taking synthroid?
Hey.. I started getting hives after they upped my dosage. I told my doctor he brought my doasge down. I've been on the low dose for almost 6 weeks.. and I'm still getting hives. Any luck on how they stopped?
I have been on levothroxine for 3 yrs 25mg, no problems. Dr just upped it to 50, and I have hives on scalp, back of ears, and even buttocks and top of legs. So itchy. What to do, feels like bug bites all over!
This happened to me when I switched to Synthyroid. My doctor would not change me so I went to a new endo. I switched to the cheap stuff and I am great. The hives went also every other miserable side effect anxious, shakes, palpitations and sweats.
Good luck
I have been trying levothroxine for Hashimoto's thyroiditis 3 times now and I develop severe hives rashes and itching everywhere very bad also palpitations and shaking dizziness I went off it completely for 6 weeks and after 2 weeks rash and itching away etc .I started again as I thought I needed it and now I am having horrendous skin eprasgphes itching hives dizziness and shaking I will stop again I think it may be an iodine or detoxing reaction iodine foods like milk nuts fish make the symtoms worse but I have to eat and these things are stable for a god diet .I am going to try and cure thyroid naturally with good diet and reduce tea consumption as very Hugh in fluoride also no fluoride toothpaste !
