I have been on 75 mg of Pristiq for 16 weeks without and reduction in anxiety. My doctor wants to keep me on it to help with my depression. Why is it not helping me with anxiety? I am experiencing shakiness and increased heart rate after taking it. Could I be allergic? Could the adrenaline in it cause feelings of anxiety? I really need help.
High anxiety prevails after taking Pristiq?

Hi, Rebecca!
Increased or new anxiety/depression is common when starting any antidepressant but it generally resolves within a couple of weeks. Then it takes about 6-8 weeks to feel the full effect of the medication although anxiety can take longer to respond.
Is your doctor aware that you're having side effects also? You're on a large enough dose that your anxiety should be resolving by now but adverse reactions (side effects) are usually related to higher doses.
You might want to talk with your doctor again and tell them that you aren't satisfied with this medication and you want to discuss your options.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon.
