Hello vita16666. You can however I'd not split the dose. In doing so, your body will most probably not be receiving the dose as intended. Unless its for a reason such as nausea, or tremors, to lessen a physical symptom of the drug, or because of an interaction with another drug, such as the Ritalin, more often than not, a doctor will nor recommend to do so. Best of wishes, pledge
Hi Pledge,
Thank you very much for your prompt answer. In fact I started Zoloft yesterday morning and I had doubt that I can start with 50 mg as recommended in Drugs.com Zoloft dosage information. Yesterday morning I took 25 mg and I felt very good till afternoon I took another 25 mg after lunch but in the evening I experienced some bad conditions such as chest tightness, fast breathing and stomach pain which were minor. Today morning I took 50 mg and I am going to keep this dosage of Zoloft once a day with 30 mg Ritalin and 2 mg lorazepam. For your more information, I was on Buspar+Fluoxetine+Zolpidem. Buspar is a perfect medicine for treatment of Anxiety but it interacts with SSRI such as Prozac especially with Zolpidem and cause serotonin syndrome which is terrible and could be life threatening. I had bad night and following day because of said combination so I discontinued Zolpidem and decreased Prozac from 80 mg/day to 20 mg/day and finally I forgot taking Prozac.
Till yesterday I was on Buspar+Ritalin+Lorazepam I was almost OK expect feeling depression and low mood in the evening and night more over Buspar interacts with medicine and foods that are CYP450 3A4 inhibitors such as grapefruit and less with orange, lemon, yogurt. This is why I decided to start only Zoloft plus Ritalin. Ritalin has been very effective to me and increases my mood perfectly in a way that I have same feeling before I involved depression/anxiety 23 years ago. I was on different medications the worst one was MAOI like Marplan which causes hallucination I strictly not to recommend this group of antidepressant. Among all antidepressants SSRIs are more safe and effective according to my experience but I am well aware that everybody has his specific response to medicine which might be quite different.
You mentioned in your profile that you are doing research on psychiatric disorders would you please let me know do you have any professional information and/or experience on psychiatric disorders that nerve agent (I mean nerve chemical gases that are used for military purpose) can cause?
Best regards,
Vita
Yes you can split the Zoloft in half. But I am curious as to why you would want to do that?
