I haven't had too many other side effects at least none that have lasted. I so badly want this to work for me!! Is it normal for anxiety to increase before it gets better?

I'm not sure how to answer directly to the people that answered my question, so I figured I'd do it this way!! Thanks so much for your input! I really appreciate it!
10mg a day is a pretty low dose. You likely won’t feel a change until your dosage increases, which your prescriber should have you increase in steps over the next few weeks/months. When I reached a dosage of 45mg a day, this medication changed my life for the better. Hang in there, anxiety is a tough beast to slay.
I finally figured out how to reply!! Than My doctor upped my dose to 10mg twice a day which I will work up to, so far no relief and I'm on week 4. I SO hope it will eventually work!
I started on 5mg 2 x day then had mine increased about 3-4 weeks later to 10mg 2 x day. Now three weeks later I am starting on 10mg 3 times daily tomorrow since I still feel anxious but has been relieved a lot . Mine is from a TBI from a car accident. Luckily, I haven't had any reactions. Ask your doctor to maybe increase the dosage. I am so glad this is working for my severe anxiety.
Thanks for your input! I'm going to increase to 10mg twice a day too. I'm not feeling anything on 5mg 2x. I really wish I was! How long did it take for you to feel it was helping?
Hi, bubblebunny!
It seems counterintuitive but as with many anxiolytic medications increased anxiety can be a potential temporary side effect lasting just days to a week or two. It's caused by your metabolism adjusting to the drug which affects brain neurotransmitters and reception sites.
Buspirone has worked fantastically for me for over 4 years but I gather from the reviews that it is about 50% effective... half of users do very well but half don't feel major improvement. Since I've had no significant side effects from it I don't hesitate to recommend at least giving it a good try.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better quickly now.
