I've been taking Deplin for almost a month along with other vitamins. I noticed a difference after about a week or so and have felt much more relaxed, energized and have let things that would normally bother me just roll off my shoulders. The only downfall are the headaches I've had almost daily. I had bad headaches daily for the first few wks, although they now seem more tolerable they still continue. Does anyone have any experience with this and/or suggestions on managing them?

You definitely get headaches from deplin. I’ve been taking it for about a week and I’ve had pretty bad headaches since the first day I started taking it. In fact, I have a headache right now. Deplin is the only thing I take.
I started Deplin 15mg 2 weeks ago, as I have the double mutation. The last week or so I have had a horrific headache. Did you go off deplin? Take a lower dose? Were you taking a B vitamin also?
I have been taking Deplin for two weeks. I have had bad nausea and a dull headache. My psychiatrist has made no suggestions to help with these two side effects. While the Deplin is helping, I am afraid the side effects are getting too much for me to continue taking it ! Anyone have any suggestions?
Why were you given the Deplin--to treat what? I was prescribed it for help with my migraines, but it didn't help me after 6 weeks, so I stopped using it.
Hello surfgrl. I did some reading up on your question. From this site as several other sources that I use. I'm afraid you're pretty much alone when it comes to headaches as a result from taking Deplin. No one seems to be reporting/reported it as a side effect. Unless its possibly a result of Deplin interacting with other meds/vitamins that you're taking. Best I can suggest is either talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Regards, pledge
Well... you are wrong. :) I have done my own research and it is a common side effect. I started taking Deplin and after about a week I started getting horrible stabbing headaches. I am on no other medications other than a ton of asprin to combat the headaches... lol. So I am not sure if I should even be taking it if it is generally prescribed to assist anti- depressants.
Thanks very much for your update. I do hope those headaches disappear.Have a great Sunday, pledge
I was just wondering how the headaches are going? I started Deplin 4 days ago and have had a headache the past 2. I am not sure if it is the Deplin or due to the lack of being able to get to sleep at night.
Thanks for your information and appreciated.
I know this is an old post, but I just started on Deplin and I’m getting massive headaches from it. I take Deplin around 7am and by 9am the pain is really bad.

Hi surfgrl! I've been taking Deplin for 2 months now... it's to "bolster" my Cymbalta... and it works like a charm!! I've had migraines for about 30 years but this medicine has not caused any headaches, thank Heavens!! From what my INSURANCE rep told me about Deplin is isn't covered as "some" insurance companies consider it a "VITAMIN"!! I hit the roof, telling her my dr who referred to me, called my new dr the "GOLD STANDARD BY WHICH ALL PSYCHS IN TN are measured, and there was no way in hell he prescribed me a vitamin. THEN I called my psych's nurse, telling her what the insurance ppl said... she told me it's THEIR way of getting out of covering it. She said it DOES have "a small amount" of a vitamin and folic acid, so they've chosen denial of coverage using this. BUT, she also said the public is raising such a fit over their ins companies refusal of coverage that more are beginning to cover Deplin...
she said she would't be surprised if it's not widely covered w/in a year. Were you able to get a 3 mo supply from the drug warehouse? I was, and it ends up costing (monthly) about what my co-pay would be... you pay the full ant by credit card, or they'll set up payment plans. They'll also call you approx 2wks before your refill date and make sure you still are taking it... no charge for shipping & it comes the following day.
Hope your headache problem goes away! Email me if you want more info on the warehouse deal... Happy Memorial Day!!
Although this an old post, my migraine is new. My second dose did me in. Deplin was prescribed since I've been taking adderal for 5 years. Sweats and chills accompanied by committing and a skull splitting headache, the facial neuralgia type. I wonder if the meal was not large enough or I am just allergic, or if it was coincidence.
