Yes! I've never experienced drastic hair loss in my life until I started taking Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg. in the hospital in 9/7/2021. I had very long thick blonde hair until the medication was started. My hair got matted, coarse and uncontrolable while in the hospital. After I returned home, and washed and combed out the tangles, it was still thick. Now, my hair is coming out in fistfulls. I can easily and gently pull out loose strands of hair. It's so thin now that my part is wide and you can see bare scalp in the crown area. My hair is coarse whereas before it was silky. I've tried expensive shampoos and conditioners but now I'm afraid to wash my hair and I'm going out today to purchase a wig.
It is actually a known side effect of amlodipine, but it occurs in less than 0.1% of patients.
(The following events occurred in <0.1% of patients: cardiac failure, pulse irregularity, extrasystoles, skin discoloration, urticaria, skin dryness, alopecia, dermatitis, muscle weakness, twitching, ataxia, hypertonia, migraine, cold and clammy skin, apathy, agitation, amnesia, gastritis, increased appetite, loose stools, coughing, rhinitis, dysuria, polyuria, parosmia, taste perversion, abnormal visual accommodation, and xerophthalmia).
Sorry didn't finish comment above... alopecia is hair loss. If it is really bothersome please see your doctor.
