What will happen if the patient chews the Cardizem tablet rather than swallow it whole?

Chewing any medication before swallowing will make your body absorb the medication way too quickly increasing the chance for side effects. If you cant swallow the pill, ask your pharmacy for a smaller tablet or possibly a liquid suspension. Good Luck
