Yes take it out asap I left mine in a year longer an now I'm in so much pain I had it removed 8months ago an now I have to file the Miranda lawsuit bad drug recall.. I've been getting my period now every other week for the past two months now... I didn't know before I got it that it would cause me so much trouble I would of never gotten it its been painful since I put it in 6years ago thought the pain would go away but seems to get worse .. I hope I help you here I'm no doctor but thus is what happen to me...

Well, first of all, you cant count on it to keep you from getting pregnant, it can cause infection if left in too long or it can embed itself into the uterus and have to be surgically removed. It is important to get it removed. If you would happen to get pregnant with the old IUD in place, it could be harmful to the fetus, you stand a great chance of losing the baby.
