I have been on Paxil for a very, long time. It has always been a good med for me. But with a number of extreme stressors in my life in the past year and a half I have tried a couple of adjuncts. One lamotrigine just made my brain feel dead, emotionless. Now trying Topamax which makes me feel pretty tired and just ho-hum most of the time. I am looking for something to really just give me back that desire to feel normal again. Any ideas I can research? I am very pro-active in my own health.
What are some good adjuncts to pair with Paxil CR?

I am in the same boat. Have taken paxil successfully for 20 yrs. but am going down hill now. Have a doctor's appt. in 4 days and would love to know of any answers you find. I too have had extreme stressors the past year. Thx.
I have also been on paxil for many years and I felt like it stopped working as well so my doctor suggested I take buspar and it has worked wonders.
That is fantastic, Buspar, who knew?! But methadonehellbee, are you on methadone along with Buspar? If so, no judgement at all, I've friends who have been on methadone for chronic pain. Just curious if Buspar would mix with her paxil?
Thank you,
Lara
How did you get off paxil

Granny C I have taken myself off of Paxil a couple times. You have to do it VERY gradually over weeks. I just continued to take it daily but lessoned the amount weekly. (Broke the pills into pieces until I was down to a crumb daily).
Hi zapdmom, have any of your doctors suggested Abilify? I see their adds and wonder if that would be a good one for you. Pledge would know if Abilify is a good idea or not, so if you see this pledge, please comment?
I'm so surprised that you've only gotten one answer on your question.
Wait a little while, and ask it again, or wait for others to answer your query.

Thanks for your response Lara, Tried the Abilify with no response whatsoever. Will keep the Remeron(?) in mind though. Still trying to hang tough with the Topamax. Was on the Lamictal and grew to hate it. Though it worked for me, the side effects were bad.
I am looking into a group called AssureRX... genetic testing for find the right meds for you. I know I haven't been through nearly as many as some people I know, but I am sure you all understand the frustration of trying over and over again just to have a sense of "normalcy" for ourselves. Thank for answers so far and any future ones!! xx
Hi again zapdmom, I really don't know that much about antidepressants, I'm a chronic pain patient, so I do take one, people that have chronic pain are usually put on an antidepressant. So sorry to learn that you had no luck with the Abilify.
I hope you get more answers very soon, and if you don't, re-post your question, as I believe no one really saw it.
All the best, my new friend,
Lara
Hello zapdmom. Remeron might be a good choice. There are warnings to mixing the two Paxil/Remeron but I've been on this combination for years now and comfortable doing so. I use the Remeron off label for sleeping. The Paxil for anxiety. Another choice might be Wellbutrin. Regards pledge
