I’m a 62 year old woman on Zoloft, now weaning off, could be the cause, tried different meds, body is burning.
GERD has absolutely ruined my life. Constantly suffering for many weeks now. Anyone else?

You absolutely should tell your doctor about your symptoms. If you don't, they may think everything is fine and working as expected.
Hi, Cdesharn!
Is your health care provider aware of your illness?
Any suggestions there?
Self-medicating is not the way to go.
I am 74 just started 50 mg I had burning sensation after starting Sertraline mainly my chest area Has gotten somewhat better Started 25 6 weeks ago Going to see how 50 goes then decide if I will taper off and try another med Also having heartburn and other issues
Try dr Jamie koufman’s books. And also facebook group and blogs. Very good advice. Includes a two week washout detox thing where you get rid of all acids plus chocolate and fatty foods for two weeks.
you also don’t go to bed for three hours after eating. This washes out the Pepsin. . The Pepsin is activated by the acid which causes all the inflammation in your esophagus.
Ask your doctor about the burning body. I've had GERD for 35 years with no burning body. Best advice for starters is to purchase over-the-counter Pepcid 10 - 20mg and take as directed. If you've never had chronic heartburn this should work well. OTC Omeprazole/Prilosec is another choice Talk to the pharmacist about options. He/she cannot prescribe just talk options. For quick short relief I recommend liquid antacid. But its relief is a short time 1-2 hours at most. It can be taken before or after the Pepcid but is not necessary the Pepcid also called (generic) Famotidine is effective. If this fails you see your doctor, a walk-in or a GI specialist.
