my daughter, 34, is disabled and has been on 20 mgs fluoxetine... 2 months ago her dose was increased to 40 mg... my sister, who watches her while i work, was unaware of the increase, and has been still giving her the 20mg. an inadvertent error... please advise... am i still able to start giving her the 40mgs... thank you

I agree Wildcat, that is a big jump in dosage. My daughter's(16) Dr. only increased her 10 mg at a time.

Yes, but do let her doctor know that she's been on the lower dose and let them know how she's doing as far as symptoms. They can determine if the increase is still warranted.
A dosage increase... and this would be doubling her dose... can sometimes cause some temporary side effects that might persist for a week or two.
