... still hadn't gone I took a stimulant laxative that was expired, it gave me cramping but didn't work at all, so I took 2 doses of miralax in 24hrs but woke up this morning and was so uncomfortable with abdominal bloating, fullness and just so uncomfortable that I decided to try an enema so I did that this morning and I kept the whole thing in for 5mins like it said, then I did go to the bathroom finally! I didn't go a lot but I guess I got all the water from the enema out and all the poop it could get to... My question is, is it normal to use an enema, go to the bathroom like that and then not go anymore after that? I am taking some more miralax to get the rest out, cuz I'm still backed up, 2wks is a long time! I do feel a little better since the enema but my abdomen does still feel backed up, crampy and just sore
Fleet Enema - I have been constipated for 2wks now... I took stool softener for 4days but when I?

I've been having the same exact symptoms. MOM alone has worked with having elimination. [2 TBS MOM/ with 8oz glass of, water to rinse down] @ bed time.
. Drink more water upon waking up. 8 hours later had a natural urge. But since being so backed up only way to get a good elimination was to either use a (squatty potty/step stool)
in my bathroom could hold onto doorknobs, leaning back over toilet, or simply after urination stood straddling the toilet allowing BM to expell.
(For BM is heavy in colon and having problem getting over the bend that holds it until eliminated.)
Also now trying MirLax? Only way I had a BM was using fleet "Glycerin suppository."
I would recommend the suppositories over liquid enema. I've been having this same constipation issue 4 weeks now.
Zantac 150mg twice daily. For acid reflux. Severe heartburn.
After going to ER :
Put on clear liquid diet 2/days.
3rd/day: with liquid diet add BRAT diet.
(Banana, white rice, applesauce, toast)
By dat 5 - begin to introduce foods listed below. Others as tolerated. No red meat.
(No spices or spicy food)
lightly sprinkle with salt, little butter, mayo as tolerated. For flavor. But you'll be surprised you'll actually taste the food! Not needing much salt or butter to flavor. I didn't use any for 1 week.
Eating 1 c. raisin bran, corn/rice checks cereal, oatmeal, cream of wheat (1/2 c milk), 100% whole wheat toast w/butter, soft cooked egg, yogurt, 3 prunes, 4oz prune. , white saltine crackers.
Chamomile, Green Tea with raw honey.
(no coffe, sugary, carbonated drink)
(No spices, sugar, pepper, fast food, processed food, luncheon meats)
Papaya, Avocado, muskmelon, watermelon, Apple's, applesauce, pears, peaches, plums, blueberries.
(no fruit with little seeds like berries)
Only steamed or boiled vegetables.
Sweet potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, spinach, asparagus, beets, cucumbers - no seeds,
(no seeds of any kind).(No corn). No raw at this point to hard on digestion tract.
Only baked poultry, fish, tuna fish. No red meat can't digest it.
Basically low fiber diet for 1 week.
Until things, symptoms of bloating and constipation hopefully get moving.
Thinking its biliary colic - gallbladder related issues? Have all symptoms, but now constipated? Symptoms of not being able to digest fats and proteins. Light color stool. Undigested stool.
Have consultation with Gastroenterologist on 26.
»»Also started doing a
[ "ileocecal valve" ] message««.
2- 3 x 's/ day
{This helps with activating the intestines.} Google it. Or even found these intestinal messages for relieving constipation on YuTube!
It does seem to help... just last night tried message and had some BM pass without use of suppository.
Hope this helps... after 4 weeks has found to help me!
Recommended by both family Dr and Gastroenterologist:
I'm using a fleet glycerine suppository 1ce / every other day with MiraLax for 14/days.
Hope when done with this regimen, be back to going on my own!
Need to read up on MOM if its easier on our system. Did have result with just MOM.
ALSO: Magnesium can be an issue. Reading on chaleted Magnesium. For better absorption.
Having all symptoms of being vitamin difficient Magnesium. We can't absorb enough in our diet. 200mg/ 2 x 's/daily for constipation and related symptoms.
Hi. Is it normal for you to be constipated for that long? 2 weeks is a long time and isn't good for your body. I was constipated almost that long once and I literally had to go to the hospital to get a special kind of enema done. I hope to never have to do that again. Good luck!!
I would also be investigating the source of the constipation as it is plain not healthy, be it diet, immobility or some social phobia about bowel movements where people can hear. Seriously.
Two weeks worth will take quite some passing too.
Good luck
I have a suggestion. Instead of trying the Miralax again try taking milk of magnesia instead. Doesn't taste that great but it's less harsh than an enema or Miralax.
When I am constipated I usually take milk of magnesia the night before and by morning I'm able to have a bowel movement.
Best of luck
