I had to do a mouth swab test and it tested positive greater than 0.8 the legal limit and I have not drank in over 5 years. someone please tell me how that happens ? I listed all my medicines I am on ad I am A diabetic I have out of control blood sugars for a long time and I eat foods wit artificial sweetners in them. I take many medications but they said none of my meds could have caused this positive test. But yet I go to my family doctor and have a blood test done and it came back at 0.3.. how does tihs happen when I do not drink.?
Why would I fail a mouth swab drug test for alcohol when I dont drink??

If a diabetic has a yeast infection, glucose can ferment into alcohol.
now this is interesting, I will ask my doctor about this. Thanks
Did you use any mouthwash prior to the test? There is alcohol in mouthwash. It may be possible that it is your diabetes condition that may be causing the false positive. It could very well be a bad testing device. What does your Dr think?
no didnt use any mouth wash prior to the swab. my dr did a lood alchol test and got a much lower level. But I do not drink period. there shouldnt be any alchol in my body.
I was reading about sorbitol thats in many diet foods including popcycles which I eat alot of at night ..so I wont want sugared foods. I wonder if that may have caused the effect going to ask my doctor about it at my next appointment
