Hi, spencer!
It certainly sounds suspicious and there have been a very few reported cases:
"Postmarketing reports: Dysarthria, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, nystagmus, PARKINSONISM SPECTRUM, restless legs, tardive dyskinesia"
If you determine this is a side effect of the medication your doctor should report it to the FDA.
You should let your doctor know as soon as possible.
Regards and I hope you are feeling better quickly.

Following up on my question and Wildcat's response on May 24 -
during weaning process my husband's Parkinson-like symptoms began to lessen. Now that he is totally off, he continues to get better. A side note - genetic test revealed that he processes escitalopram poorly and is not a good candidate for it. Weaning him off escitalopram confirmed the results of the genetic test. I hope this is helpful for some of you out there.
Happy to hear your husband's doing better and I hope he continues to improve. It just goes to show how differently people may react and respond to different medications. Unfortunately, although rare these side effect's statistics do indicate that there are patients who have experienced problems.
