OMG. I did the same thing!!! I've been working 12 and 24 hour shifts. So tired. Than we got a new refrigerator a week ago. Old refrigerator I stored the ENBREL on the left side. New damn refrigerator the left side is now the freezer. It could happen to anyone who's as tired as we are. I called Enbrel Support and they said not to use it if in freezer. At almost $6000.00 a pop... I'm going to use it anyway. This is what I call a 'Lucy' moment.( Lucille Ball).
How does one "accidently" store a very expensive medication incorrectly? The literature states very clearly at least 3 times, DO NOT FREEZE. I agree, check in with your pharmacist.
I work in shift duties , came from 12 hours night shift , when reached home my brain was switched off ! , I remembered the next day about my enbrel vials
Enbrel is not supposed to be frozen. I would ask the pharmacist for advice. It may not be good anymore since it was frozen.
Enbrel multiple-use vial is supplied in a carton containing four dose trays. Each dose tray contains one 25 mg vial of etanercept, one diluent syringe (1 mL Sterile Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, USP, containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol), one 27-gauge ½-inch needle, one vial adapter, and one plunger.
Do not use a dose tray beyond the expiration date stamped on the dose tray label. The dose tray containing Enbrel (sterile powder) must be refrigerated at 2° to 8°C (36° to 46°F). DO NOT FREEZE.
Thank you for the reply
Actually my enbrel comes in a form of ready made pen for injection , each pen contain 50 mg of eteracept . When I took it from the freezer I could still see the solution moving , it was not totally frozen . It's very expensive and I've paid cash :(
I'll try to phone my doctor and see what she thinks about that
