PRILOSEC OTC and its generic are both similar to protonix and work by shutting off some of the acid pumps in the stomach. There will be other OTC meds near the proposed stores, such as Zantac, and prevacid. They all work by shutting down some of the acid pumps. Protonix has a generic, rx only, called pantoprazole or pantoperazole. If you go to the drugs a to z tab on the blue banner above, you can look them up. They are known as proton pump inhibitors.
