... through his office this year. I had just started my second round of b12/lipotronic shots and phentermine a couple of weeks ago. Last friday when I showed up for my shot, they asked for a urine sample and charged me 65.00 that I didnt expect. Today I get a letter that they are dismissing me from their practice due to positive test for drugs that my dr. didnt prescribe. Very upset, I called to find out what was going on because I dont take anything except vitamins/supplements that are listed on my information sheet there and the meds he prescribes. At first they told me i tested positive for a seizure medicine and I reminded them that we had tried nuvigil for my sudden sleep problems. They admitted that then said that I also tested positive for marijuana. It is simply not possible, This dr. has me feeling better than I have in years. I would not risk that for anything or mess with the mix. The list of meds I have been taking that he prescribed are: Xanax, fluoxetine, diclofenac, phentermine, butalbital, nuvigil and the B12/lipotronic shots and an allergy spray that I cant read the name on (just started it this month). Was not taking nuvigil after I started back on the phentermine and shots. I also take Iodine Plus2 for low thyroid type symptoms, chromium picolinate, vitamin D3, Magnesium Maleate, Ginko Biloba, hyurlonic acid and i before i got the allergy spray and the antiinflamitory meds, I took a lot of excedrin back and body and otc allergy meds. I have fibromyalgia, migraines, depression, anxiety and some knee issues. I have lost from a size 18 to a size 10 while on the weight loss. I want to know how I tested positive for marijuana when it has been quite some over a year since I used it. I didnt need it once I started the meds. I also want to know since he is dismissing me and I have to find another dr, am I going to have trouble getting treated? This has blindsided me and I don't need to go off of my meds. Please help me

I have the same problem I was seeing this amazing doctor and then he had to move out of state. I never had anything like this happen when my old doctor did the urine test and he was the one who did the test. The dr. That took over is alright but I have seen him 3 times and the last 2 urine test they said came up positive for meth and I asked him to do a blood test since that is more accurate and he said no. He said he will see how it is next month and go from there. I take nuvigil also and other meds and vitamins and he has a list of everything I take. If I go back and it happens again and they let me go I will talk with my lawyer. I do not understand why if he had any doubts that he didn't do the blood test. For some reason I have a bad feeling that the lady who does the test has something to do with it I just, I don't no what she would gain by doing this to me. Does anyone have any advise?
The tests most drs use aren't that reliable. Other things will show up as a drug. They should know you enough to know you didn't take these things, and at least let you get tested further. One unreliable test shouldn't get you kicked out. Its unfair for these docs to depend on their urine tests.
Agreed. I am trying to figure out why and how and what to do next. I'm looking for another dr but since I am private pay, I don't want to pay for an appointment with another dr until I know what to expect. Are they going to automatically flag me as an abuser based on this?
I understand what you're saying. The phentermine could be a problem in more ways then one. Its not recommended you take it long term and most docs will stop it. I can't believe he won't test you again, they are way too quick to put their belief in things that aren't reliable. If someone tests positive and they swear they took nothing, they should let you go get a different test at the lab.
