hi,i just had minor surgery a week ago.talk with your doc and tell him everything.then do the same with everyone. ask questions.don't take anything for granted.i was just put in twilight whatever that means.but i tapered myself down to half a 8mg sub in am and half at 4pm.for three days. then the day before nothing and the morning of nothing.that was fine with the guy who put me in twilight.all i remember is someone saying can you turn on your side. and they could have used me for poster child for suboxone.i dont remember gettin there in the morning. just keep in mind its your body, its your life...
Thanks, I was planning stopping the subs about three days before. I know im not being put to sleep. They r just giving me shots to numb the area, and i know they r giving me valium to relax me. that was the part I was most worried about. Im just going to make sure the subs are not in my system. I will take something to keep myslf from getting sick. I know tabs work. I just didnt know if they worked like asprin and made your blood thin.
Hi Pete. I hope everything went well with the procedure you had done. Back to feeling good I hope? It's one thing to have a minor surgical procedure and a major one where they need to put you under completely. A local anesthetic will probably have no effect with the subs but you're right, always better to be on the safe side and inform. God forbid something were to happen on the table and they did need to put you under but didn't know about the subs beforehand. Happy to hear you knew the right dosing ahead of time!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery,
chris
You need to contact the surgeon right away and let them know you are taking suboxone. Regardless of whether subs thin the blood or not, it is very important they know. The meds they use to anesthetize you and the post op meds could be a major problem. Please call them very soon!
Be safe,
chris
"Precautions While Using Suboxone"
It is very important that your doctor check your progress while you are using this medicine. This will allow your doctor to see if the medicine is working properly and to decide if you should continue to take it. Blood tests may be needed to check for unwanted effects.
Before having any kind of surgery (including dental surgery) or emergency treatment, tell the medical doctor or dentist in charge that you are using this medicine. Serious unwanted effects can occur if certain medicines are given together with buprenorphine and naloxone combination.
