Methotrexate (MTX) is an anti-cancer drug used in the treatment of cancers of head and neck, breast, lung, stomach etc.
Low blood count (white blood cells & red blood cells) is a common side effect of MTX usage, which occurs in almost 30% of patients. Since it is a common side effect its onset and duration can be predicted.
Onset: 6-7 days
Nadir: 10 days (It is the time between chemotherapy cycles where low blood count is experienced)
Recovery: Approx 21 days
