I take metoprolol twice a day and was just prescribed diltiazem for afib and constant heart palpitations. Everywhere I look it says do not combine the two. But doctors do prescribe them, so has anyone here taken these two and tell me what to watch out for or is it a no?
Diltiazem and metoprolol anyone?

I take metoprolol succinate ER 25mg in the morning and diltiazem er 120mg at bedtime. I have not had any problems as long as I take them 4 hours apart, but that is me. I would call your doctor and see what timeline they want you to use.
If the same Dr. prescribed both medications, he/she has determined the benefits outweigh the potential risks of this major interaction, if it is not the case and 2 different Drs. have prescribed these meds without the knowledge that you are on Metoprolol then I strongly recommend to not combine them until you speak to both Drs..

If you feel uneasy about this potential interaction I suggest you discuss it with your prescriber (s).
