In my opinion, yes! I take several medications, one being Gabapentin. I live in a small town so my pharmacist tries to give me the same brand every time of all my meds. They have in my file not to change generic brands. Just tell them you want the same brand you were getting prior to November.
Hi, Hurting!
Although the active ingredient is the same different generic manufacturers may use different inactive ingredients than those used by the name brand and other generics.
You can ask your doctor to script you for the generic you were using previously if you know the manufacturer or you can ask your pharmacy to special order the original for you. Most pharmacies will do this for you and should have a record of what it was.
I don't know what you're being treated for but be sure your doctor knows you are having problems with the medication and possibly dosage because you need professional advice. Also, you'd want to rule out any other underlying situation.
No one should suffer for almost 6 months!
Is there a reason why it was changed to generic, like an insurance issue perhaps? If not have your doctor to put "do not use generic" on the prescription for the pharmacy.
I'd do an online search for this question. It sounds like a very important one for you.
