... am also taking 40 mg Omeprazole per day to each acid reflux caused by a sliding Hiatal Hernia. I understand there is a moderate side effect taking this combination of medications but my pharmacist says to take the medications a couple of hours apart and I should be OK? I have never been on a muscle relaxant and very nervous as to what I should expect? Any feedback from the group members is appreciated. Than you in advance

RMG; jUST do as the pharmacist said and it well relax you so that hopefully no severe spasm. it's just when you first start Valium or the generic it seems to hit your system a bit harder like drinking a few beers but by that time hopefully you well be sleeping through this its safe enough you have nothing to really worry about just keep them a few hours a part.
I expect you to have a nice relaxing nights sleep. I have a hiatus hernia with horrible reflux at times and take a proton pump inhibitor like you. Valium works just the same. If you throw up at a regular time wait until after.
I really dont like taking any sort a pills especially sedatives but if it helps me? Wasn't clear on what you meant by throwing up to wait? They have taken xray upon xray and said that they dont see a hiatal hernia but a few years ago a radiology tech did see a small one so it must me a sliding hiatal hernia if anything. Does the Valium make you throw up? I am actually on the generic Diazepam.
It's the gastric reflux that makes me vomit first thing in the morning if I am feeling badly stressed. I get out of bed and am almost instantly overcome by spasms in my stomach. The year before last when I was due to get a hip replacement I was pretty badly stressed and complained to my doctor that I had been throwing up clear fluid with blood all through it. He suggested I wait till my hip had been replaced then we could look at the other issues. Four days after surgery I started passing a lot of blood; they sent me off for an emergency endoscopy where they found 7 duodenal ulcers; the largest at 1.2cm (half an inch) was bleeding a lot. 45 minutes later when I woke up, they had banded them all. To replace blood volume they gave me 6 bottles of plasma and prescribed pantoprazole which is very effective.
If you are new to valium, you can break it in half (it should/may have a score mark to divide it in two; if there are no score marks you can use a sharp knife. For starters 2.5 mg Valium sounds more sensible
I have started taking the full 5mg tablet and it seems to be working just perfect for me. I haven't had any side effects and it relaxes my back muscles.
Excellent news.
