Hi, Jcole!
About 1~10% of users may experience tinnitus which usually subsides over a few days to a week or two but it can also become permanent.
Depending on what the medication is prescribed for you might want to discuss with your doctor other options that are less apt to cause this side effect.

PS, I took Depakote for years with no problems but everyone may respond differently.
I already have it in one ear. he wanted me to try it but the office is closed by the time I researched it. Thank you for the prompt reply.
I’m not bipolar. Maybe to help the twitching and anxiety. No manic depression either.
I've been taking Lamictal (lamotrigine) now and it helps with my anxiety disorder. Tinnitus is reportedly uncommon with it. You might want to check it out and/or discuss it with your doctor.
