I’ve had the dose decreased slowly and have been on 30mg for two months now. Doctor said I could quit, but I’m afraid I would have anxiety again. I still have several side effects so I’d like to decrease it to 20mg. Do you think this low dose is effective for preventing anxiety?
Cymbalta - I’ve been on duloxetine for generalized anxiety for 3-1/2 years.

No medication can "cure" anxiety disorders so it's not uncommon for symptoms to recur after stopping the drug. 20mg is less than than the standard minimum maintenance dose of 60mg so all you can do is try it and see. Everybody responds differently to dosage adjustments...
It also depends on the type of anxiety that you experienced. Was it due to stressful events in your life or was/is it a clinical disorder?
No one can predict your outcome so why not give it try? Worse case you can always go back on your medication.
Best regards and I hope you do well with whatever decision you and your doctor make.
It’s been a year since I posted my last question here when Wildcat Vet suggested I could try to decrease my duloxetine. Well, I did and I’ve been down to 20mg once daily.
Thank you WCV! My side effects decreased and I’ve been taking it every other day now for the past two weeks. I’d love to come off it completely but now I read that it helps with arthritis pain. Playing tennis 3 times a week is extremely important to me and I don’t need pain to interfere with that. Do you think I should discontinue duloxetine and maybe take an OTC anti inflammatory such as Tylenol? Which option is safer? (I was put on anti anxiety meds 10 years ago for a health condition treated by an ass of a doctor.).
