i had been on Zoloft for over 5 years and ran out before my doctor apt. my doc ender up switching me to Wellbutrin... with in a few days of being off of zoloft and before starting the welburtin i noticed my smell and taste wernt right... i can eat and smell fruits and fresh veggies with no issue but regualr food any meats freanch fries and just anything good tasts and smell like a mixture of chemicals and greese. its horible! im dropping wait and struggling to find foods to make me feel full. it also affects things like body wash/ body sprays that use to smell good smell horible.
Can coming off a medication cause your taste buds to mess up?

I found one reference that noted that Zoloft discontinuation could cause sensory disturbances but it didn't mention taste or smell specifically. Starting Wellbutrin can also cause it temporarily.
It should resolve rather quickly but having been on the Zoloft for so many years it may take a few weeks. :(
