Tetracycline and derivatives including doxycycline and minocycline are more commonly used. Cloxacillin is not a drug of choice for treating acne.

It is prescribed for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms including middle ear infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, gastro-intestinal infections, skin and soft-tissue infections such as boils or infections as a result of spider bites, impetigo - a bacterial skin infection characterised by small pus-filled blisters, and endocarditis - inflammation of the lining of the heart and its valves... good luck ;-)
