I have been on clitropram for 25 days . First 8 or 9 days where horrendous then I started having days where I felt ok . But the side affects keep coming and going , is this normal ? Last night was probably the worse case of anxiety and panick attack I've ever had and really scared me so much so that I didn't take my pill at 9.30 like I always do . But then decided to take it at 2.20 as I chicken out . But I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this this amount of days on them ? And how long I'll have to expect it to be like this before I'm better . ?

Hi, Kcook!
From the length of time you've been on the medication I'm guessing that you're in the "roller coaster" phase. You feel better, then worse, then better again but you should start having less bad times very soon. You should also be feeling some improvements by now although it can take 4-6 weeks or so for the medication to become fully effective.
You need to let your doctor know right away that you're still having high anxiety. A panic attack is not a good thing so you need some professional advice. Perhaps a dosage adjustment? They might also be able to prescribe another medication to get you through until the citalopram fully kicks in.
Call your doctor, okay?
It took me about 6 weeks before I felt myself. I found what worked best for me was walking and listening to music just to try and put the anxiety at bay. My worst was at night just before bedtime. I hope this helps and I know where you are coming from.
