Have been taking citalopram for 6 days for anxiety. How long does it take before the insomnia of taking this drug stops and you can get back a normal sleep pattern.

Insomnia is a very common side effect affecting up to 18.8% of people being treated with this antidepressant. These side effects usually take up to 10 days to subside, if these persist, do inform your Dr., perhaps all you need is a dose adjustment or the advice of your Dr. by prescribing a sleep aid.
