Has anyone been recently cut-off from receiving long term use (i.e., 10 -15 years) of "Fentanyl Transdermal Patches?" I had used them for long-term "Chronic Pain," with excellent results - pain controlled up to and exceeding 90%, with no euphoria, or need for break-through pain medications; now, if I even mention the topic, or the desire to be re-prescribed them, I'm looked at like I'm a criminal! I am 66 years old, and had a positive outlook toward my future, but that is all now gone!
Chronic Pain - Unwaranted, and protested discontinuance of "Fentanyl Transdermal Patches!"?

The DEA is making it harder to get the patches. They do not realize that the patches are not what is killing people.
My son was prescribed these 50 mcg in 2003 after trying every pain pill we could find. The pills made you high and worked for about 3 or 4 hours. The patches do not work for 72 hours on some people, my son is one of them. I talked to the manufacturer / Mylan Labs, and they said to get the doctor to ask for 15 and change every 48 hours. This works like a champ. CVS has changed to another brand that I have no experience with (Calvogen).
In 2011 his doctor was arrested for selling pain pill prescriptions from his apartment.
It took talking to 28 different doctors before we found one that says they are great. We went to her for patches.
I’ve personally never used those, but when I spoke to a doc at PM A YEAR AGO, she said the practice no longer prescribes fentanyl (pill or patch), and no longer prescribes hydromorphone, a 12-hour med).
In the past year I’ve been cut from 10mg oxycodone qid to 7.5 qid.
For anyone who’s had their dose cut, how do you manage? I’m addition to pharmacy having a hell of a time getting pills, the dosage cut has put my pain from a steady 1-2 to a constant 5-6!
Someone once told me to toggle between oxycodone and 600 mg ibuprofen. This recipe seems to work well.
