I get bloating and gas pain and a very itchy anus and rectum from Questran. Will it go away with continued use?
Cholestyramine - does the itching in the anus and rectum ever go away with continued treatment?

Hi. I'm not a healthcare professional but I take Questran. When I first started taking it, it started doing it's job... to bind to
bile and this bile is excreted naturally ... and there's a lot of it at first because you have a build up of too much bile in your system (cause of D and pain) ... SO as this initial amount is confronted with the Questran a lot will leave at first and this going to leave an itching in the anus. However as time goes by there is less (not as much as when first starting) and the itching stopped (for me). Also if you'd like I've found Desitin maximum strength to be of great help when wiping / this helps clean off the excreted bile and eliminates the itch/sting of bile. I hope this was helpful.
