Hello,
It’s common for most antidepressants to become less effective ( poop out) overtime and 3 years is considered long-term. A dose adjustment may be beneficial, as 20mg is the maximum dose. But you should definitely discuss with your health care provider and he/she will know what’s best for you, okay?

Also, during your free time try taking couple walks and try few deep breathing exercises. As Reducing stress is good for one’s health.
I wish you the best.
Have you ever switched to a different antidepressant?? I’m nervous about that also which in turn makes my anxiety a horrible cycle
Unfortunately, no I haven’t switch to any antidepressants. I’ve been on Paxil for 8 months now with great results. But I’ll highly suggest you to speak with your health care provider.
Or hopefully my friends WildcatVet or Masso see this post because they have better experiences with medication.

Are you taking brand name or generic? That happened to me when the pharmacy switched me to generic. It was worthless. Switched back and all was fine. Just thought I'd mention as it didn't occur to me at first.
I’ve taken the generative for years and haven’t had a problem-but my anxiety is so bad I just don’t know what to do
I disagree with @kay. As generic are less cheaper and highly-effective as the brand name. But, as I said above may be the lexapro is starting too become less effective. Its common with most antidepressants. You should definitely discuss with your health care. He/she may make an adjustment or recommend an alternative; a short term medication to help you during your rough times. Do not let your anxiety control you. “but my anxiety is so bad I just don’t know what to do”. That’s your fear controlling you my friend.
When is your next appointment with your doctor?
“You will get better, I promise. Everything takes time, never lose faith.” We all have our bad days, but don’t let it bring you down.

I understand I’m being controlled by fear- it’s so hard to let that go in the midst of it. I am a Christian and I pray, doing devotionals, reaching out to others in my boat- and I even take Xanax for bad days. The last 2 days I’ve taken a Xanax (1 in morning) and it took jitters away but left me with depression. I hope I can get into my dr on Monday.
I understand. But getting hold with the doctor is a wise decision. I too opening up with god because I suffered from major depression and anxiety for 2 years. I’m a young adult(20 yrs of age) But I am getting better now, god is with all of us.
Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Meaning; Putting our confidence in God means trusting that He will take care of us and provide everything we need.
Don’t rush, everything takes time.
Take care of yourself.
Tyrese.
