I have a friend who had a boil come up on his lower private parts in june. After much pain and antibiotics it went "away"; however, he still has an open place on it, and it drains everyday. And just tonight he has a spot about an inch up from where the boil was, where it looks like another one is trying to start. I was just wanting to know if it would be safe to use this soap on an open sore. Any help would be appreciated. Thx goldilocks

According to the labeling, deep non-superficial wounds should not be routinely treated with any product containing chlorhexidine gluconate, the active ingredient in hibiclens. It also contains isopropyl alcohol as a non-active ingredient, which should never be applied to deep wounds. Instead, betadine (povidone iodine) would be the best option for this, as it is typically what is used in the medical setting to disinfect deep wounds.
my brother had similiar thing in private area, and we had to pack it, the emergency room dug in cleand it out then we had to treat it with a solution y, my friend that person need er treatment ,, it must be cleaned properly sounds like it is spreading,, please take him to the hospital so that he can get the proper wound care diagnosis and proper healing solution... it will go away... his hands ,he needs gloves each time he cleanse the wound, disposable my brother stayed with me for 2 months, but hes fine now it has not returned... vtech10
He went to the hospital 4x with it. No one would cut it because they said it was too close to a major artery. Finally, one doctor did take a needle, like they use to drain the fluid out of your lungs, and stuck it in at the infection site, and drained a little of the poison out. He is back on antibiotics. So we are hoping that clears it up completely. It has drained quite a bit today. So maybe, this round of antibiotics will clear it up. Thx so much for your reply. Goldilocks
