I am a a type one diabetic on an insulin pump. I am on several medications daily. I take atenolol and just started taking lisinopril. I had a sore throat and a cough in the night. Gasping for air. Can someone tell me is losartan better than the lisinopril? Can you take it with atenolol? My doctor wants me to start taking the losartan now.
Can you take losartan with atenolol? Is losartan a better drug than lisinopril?

Answers
Yes, you can take losartan with atenolol. They work by different mechanisms to lower blood pressure. When lisinopril, an angiotension converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, causes cough as a side effect patients are changed over to angiotension II receptor antagonists such as losartan.
