I am currently taking 400mg of lamictal daily. I want to start taking phentermine for weight loss. Can I continue to take my lamictal daily along with the phentermine without it effecting the purpose of the lamictal? I have epilepsy.
Can taking phentermine effect lamictal for seizure patients?

I'm in the same situation. I'm on 200MG of lamotrigine (Lamictal) and about to start on Phentermine. I had 3 pharmacist's plus my doctor tell me Phentermine will NOT affect the seizure medication. Have you take phentermine with your seizure medication yet? If so, how did it go?
Dear gtJohnson, I would never use phentermine when on ANY TYPE of seizure medication. Phentermine is a psychostimulant chemically related to amphetamines. One of the central nervous system side effects is tremors.
Phentermine could be associated with lowering the seizure threshold which means that it would make it easier for your brain to have a seizure. I personally would stay away from this drug or from any drug that has these properties.

Eventhough no potential interactions exist, I strongly suggest you give your Doctor a call before taking both, better safe than sorry, that is my opinion.
