I have been told both ok and no.
Although there is no known information whether caffeine will affect absorption of levothyroxine, it is best to be safe and not take it with black coffee.
You can drink coffee 30 minutes after taking Synthroid.
I had no problems taking it with coffee. You did say black coffee, right.
When you add milk though, then you change the absorption. Milk inhibit synthroid absorption, but you can have it with coffee mate. Hope this helps. BTW... Soy, Brocolli, Cabbage inhibits the absorption of any thyroid meds. You can steam Brocolli and cabbage without any problems, but eat about 3-4 hours after taking the med. When I have been doing is setting mobile phone alarm at 5AM and keeping water by the bed. Get up and take med with water then go back to bed and get up the usual time and have no problems with eating and drinking coffee.

I remember taking a black capsule in the 1970's. We called them 'black beauties'. What drug is that?
