My prescription has been reduced to a 20/12.5 instead of the 40/12.5. I still have a few of the 40/12/5 remaining and wanted to use them up by cutting them in half.
Can I cut a 40mg/12.5 BenicarHCT in half?

No you shouldn't cut them in half. It will take the medication from 40/12.5 to 20/6.25 and that's not the proper dosage to be taking.
I don't see why cutting the medicine in half so that the Benicar value was approximate the same would be a problem. Admittedly, dropping the 12.5 HCT to 6.25 might not be desirable, but considering its only a few pills (a few doses) and if they've been on the HCT for some time now, I would think their fluid levels would be reduced already. Am I missing something here? (Not a doctor nor a medical person here.)
