Not a good idea to halve the extended release tablets if the intention of your doctor is that you get the medication slowly and gradually.
Talk to your doctor. If he/she wants you to be on 30 mg then they should prescribe the extended release tablets in 30mg strength. They may decide that it doesn't matter if you have extended release or immediate release, in that case it would be okay to halve the 60mg tablets.
