I originally was prescribed Nifedical XL 30mg it seemed to work. When I picked up my prescription renewal I failed to notice the different name (Nifedipine ER) but when i began taking it a few days later i noticed the size, shape, and possibly dosage difference. What i was given was/is Nifedipine ER Osmotic Relea(se) 90 TB24. I looked it up and Nifedipine and Nifedical are the same drug, but I am concerned if this dosage is 3X what the previous one was or is it just measured differently or? And why the change? I am going to the pharmacy today and discuss it with them. I have been taking the new medication for about 2 weeks. I read that this medication may create leg cramps. Is this true and would tight thy muscles be a reaction too?

I will talk to my cardiologist about this but I have nausea, headaches, muscle leg spasms after taking this for about 8 days.
Jwcoop; Good your doing it the right way take it back and get the explanation right from the Pharmacy you got it and even if this is correct in the future prior to taking any medication that look different from what you are used to skip taking and take them right back and have them explain why you got these ones. Generic Procardia or Nifedipine should not cause leg cramps or muscle it is used to prevent constriction of muscles in the heart and also blood pressure and other reasons. would you let me know what they said.when you find out.the drug.com info keeps bouncing back and forth on the word Osmotic which could be the reason they are not matching Have a good day..
