How did you know when you needed to increase your dose of buspar? I'm usually fine during the day with anxiety for the most part. It's at night if I wake up at 3am I have a 50/50 shot to start to get anxious and just go all down hill. Is it okay to be like 15mg + 20mg? Wondering if some take more at different times. Any feedback appreciated.

You can try to take different amounts at different times and see if that makes a difference.
Many people tend to expect a sedative affect with buspirone similar to a benzodiazapine. For me, I had to learn that Buspirone was not at all similar to that. Instead, buspirone evoked a calming effect over time that took me months to fully appreciate.
All the best and take care for now.
