I’m in the process of adding a third dose of buspirone (up from 2/x day to 3/x), and found that 6 mg melatonin helps me with the insomnia.
I don't think it made my insomnia worst. It was more of the GAD. I'd ask your doctor about hydroxyzine its mainly for allergies but its side effects are sleepyness and it helps with GAD. Nice alternative to Ambien.
That’s a good question I can answer after being successfully on Buspirone for nearly 20 years. Based on my personal experience, I was worried about worsening insomnia because we all know GAD often makes insomnia worse. Buspirone initially would make me quite drowsy, and when I started taking it, it actually helped me find sleep. Now it just helps keep me calm. I take 45mg daily. Everyone is different, but I hope this helps ease your mind a bit. Good luck to you.
