For those who say Buspar has worked, how long did it take and what dose. I just started on 10mg daily. Is this enough?

Really give that dosage 4 weeks unless it really is doing absolutely nothing
That’s a good question. It varies a little bit for everyone, but most people say they started to notice helpful effects after about 4 weeks on Buspirone. For me it took about 5 weeks and gradually increasing my dosage from 10mg to 15 mg to 30mg. That was back in the Fall of 2001. I’ve been successfully taking it since then and my current dose is 15mg, every 8 hours. I’ve had many pharmacists and doctors tell me over the last 20+ years the key to success with this medication is spacing doses evenly out through the day. It doesn’t stay in the body long. I do tell people it does take about a month to reach up to a therapeutic level in your body, so don’t give up on it too soon. I’ll also be honest and tell you for about 50% of us, this medication has been absolutely fantastic. For the other 50%, they thought it was terrible or a “sugar pill”. We’re all different, the only way we learn how medications will work for us is to try them, and with ones that affect brain chemistry, it’s a lot of trial and error. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
