I have been taking Bupropion XL 150 mg tablets and have backup if I run out of them with a Bupron SR 150 mg tablets. With XL my doctor prescribes 450 mg taken all at once in the morning. Can the Bupron SR be taken in the same dosage once in the morning? Simply, does SR and XL function the same way or at least close enough to be used the same way?
Is Bupropion XL 150mg tablets the same as Brupon 150 SR?

laura bupropion xl is taken once daily and the SR is a 12 hour pill you need to split the dose to twice daily and they both are extended release xl is 24 hour and sr is 12 hour lots of confushing even in the pharmacy and clinic's so know or NO you can't take the sr all at once in the am Tell your doctor just what you have and have them tell you exactly how to take you backup meds chuck1957
Laura just thinking doctor should have you take 2 in am and 1 in pm because you can not take 1/2 pill of the sr there sustained released and can not be broken for any reason. chuck1957 retired pharmacy technician Cpht
They are both extended release I believe..the SR is a twice a day tablet as mentioned earlier..the XL is a once a day tablet
The xl is extended release, the sr is not. so it is best to take a high dose of the sr split into twice a day, 225am 225pm for example.
Sr dosing recommendation is twice a day.
